STD Infomation

San DiegoSTD facts make it clear that STDs can be contracted in a variety of ways. Syphilis, Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, herpes, and HIV are often passed through sexual activity, pregnancy, IV needle sharing, skin-to-skin contact, or breastfeeding.

Any kind of sexual activity can potentially transmit STDs from person to person. Although diseases such as Syphilis, Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, and HIV are spread through body fluids, Herpes and other STDs are spread through skin-to-skin contact. Condoms can reduce the transmission of STDs, but they are not foolproof.

Many STD cases exhibit negligible signs and symptoms. STD testing offers the only reliable way for San Diego County residents to determine their STD health status.
